This special and exclusive component driver is a concept born in the 70s and its goal is to concentrate the midrange and tweeters into a single virtual point. This minimizes phase delays and irregularities at the transition point. The speaker consists of a 28 mm tweeter and a 75 mm midrange speaker with a different dust cover to have a midrange function (not a broadband) and not to disturb the tweeter frequencies.

Perhaps the first thing you will notice immediately is the exceptional appearance and workmanship of the mid-bass speakers. The basket made of aluminum alloy is completely CNC machined. This makes the basket structure very rigid and with practically zero tolerances in favor of consistent performance and maximum energy transfer from the voice coil to the diaphragm. This is with increased efficiency in the low range and the absence of resonances in the mid and high range. The non-pressed paper diaphragm, as well as the dust cover, represent the best compromise between damping and rigidity for an extremely natural sound without coloration or changes. The water-repellent treatment is also suitable for applications in harsh environments. The large and high-quality wound magnet (Y-35) guarantees excess energy, thanks to which the peaks of the deflection are easily reproduced from the woofer. Even at high deflections, the coil operates quietly and always in its magnetic field. A careful study supported by FEM analysis allowed the metal parts of the magnet to be designed to maximize the flow exactly around the moving coil and to be linear throughout the entire deflection. Ventilation is provided by a large opening in the bottom, where its shape reduces the noise from any turbulence to an inaudible level. The voice coil with a large diameter uses an aluminum support for better heat dissipation. Furthermore, the entire voice coil is exposed to the outside air through large slots in the basket (protected by a dust sponge). With the 8000 series speakers, every detail plays an important role, which is why ESB focused on an exclusive design clamp that accepts cables with a large cross-section.

The beautiful tweeters are no less beautiful than the mid-bass speakers. The body is made of an aluminum and brass alloy and is also completely CNC machined. This makes the structure very rigid and with practically zero tolerances in favor of performance consistency and maximum linearity of reproduction, without any vibrations and resonances. The 8000 series tweeters are made of exclusive non-woven PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) fabric Torcon® with high-performance fiber, which has excellent thermal resistance, low weight, excellent self-damping and resonant frequency response above the audible range. The outer suspension is made of the same material, but is additionally covered with high-loss damping material to eliminate vibrations and resonances. The result is a very smooth and transparent tweeter sound with maximum detail. The large 28 mm diameter voice coil is the right compromise between the lightness of a classic 25 mm voice coil and the excellent power management of a 32 mm voice coil. The perfect combination of power and lightness, essential for a tweeter that must reproduce frequencies linearly and faithfully even beyond the limit of audibility. The voice coil uses an aluminum base for better heat dissipation. The oversized high-quality neodymium magnet “O52” guarantees a perfectly linear and constant magnetic flux throughout the tweeter’s operating range and guarantees an extremely linear and neutral response at both low and high volumes. Furthermore, a pure copper ring has been added to reduce harmonic distortion. A careful study supported by FEM analysis has allowed the metal parts of the magnet to be designed to maximize the flux exactly around the voice coil and to be linear throughout the entire deflection. Ventilation is provided by a large opening on the bottom protected by a sponge with calibrated holes. This solution also reduces the peak impedance at the resonant frequency, making it easier to connect the tweeter to passive crossovers. The result is clean, soothing and transparent sound reproduction with high efficiency from 940 Hz to 25 kHz with high power handling capacity.
