ESB 1000 Series 1.6C 6.5″/165mm Coaxial Speaker
ESB 1.6C coaxial speakers
The 1000 (Mille) model series has been designed from the start to offer traditional ESB sound in an affordable package without sacrificing quality. The pressed paper diaphragm of the mid-bass speakers, large voice coils capable of handling high power and the tweeters with silk dome and neodymium magnet are among the main advantages that make these speakers uncompromising in their price category. As always, within the ESB philosophy, the 1000 series has been given special attention to the musical result. Although these are the basic speakers from ESB, they maintain sound coherence with other products from higher model series, with which they share many technical solutions and carefully selected materials with undeniable acoustic qualities. The 1000 series speakers have been designed to be easily installed in the original factory positions and integrated with the factory head unit. Both component and coaxial speakers of this series have high real sensitivity, which guarantees very low power requirements for the car radio or external amplifier. Special attention was also paid to the installation depth, which at only 59 mm is one of the smallest on the current market. Easy installation is also ensured by very compact frequency crossovers, which allow for trouble-free installation in today’s modern vehicles.
PRODUCT FEATURES:
- Membrane
The diaphragm is made of pressed, hardened paper with a textured surface, which is the optimal combination of lightness, rigidity and the ability of the diaphragm to dampen any unwanted vibrations. Other advantages include an unprecedentedly flat frequency response, virtually zero resonance in motion and confidently accurate lower frequencies. The rubber suspension provides damping and transverse stability, eliminating movements that could cause contact between the voice coil and the magnet. It is the suspension that also plays an important role in determining the linearity and stability of the diaphragm and the coil. Great effort has been made to carefully design its geometry and flexibility, using high-quality materials that ensure the accuracy and linearity of the diaphragm movement, thereby reducing distortion and increasing bass dynamics. - Steel basket
The woofer basket is designed with an open, aerodynamically efficient structure that optimizes ventilation and decompression and allows for smooth sound wave flow. Its shape eliminates interference on the woofer’s moving parts, allowing for the use of a low-profile spider for greater support and stability at high excursions, as well as a large surface area for magnet mounting. This ensures rigidity even at high power levels. A special anti-resonance coating further suppresses basket vibrations and resonances. - Motor and coil
ESB’s expertise in magnetic motor design results in an extremely efficient use of the energy produced by the motor. The magnetic motor system uses a high-quality 10 OZ ferrite magnet, which has been designed to achieve a precise balance between size, weight and magnetic flux, and ideally optimize the electromagnetic properties of each speaker. The 25 mm (1″) voice coil is made of aluminum, which, although relatively expensive, offers many advantages compared to classic voice coils. First of all, it provides greater heat dissipation (20% higher) and also supports a greater extension of the mid and high frequencies of the woofer, ensuring an “open” and pleasant to listen to, natural sound. - Centering and duster
ESB’s research department spent a lot of time researching the ideal shape of the spider (centering diaphragm). This essential component must guarantee perfect and linear operation of the diaphragm at both low and high power, but must also limit its excursion before it becomes uncontrollable. The spider design ensures perfect ventilation of the voice coil, removing heat from the bottom of the speaker, while preventing any back pressure from the diaphragm movement. A new dust cap made of damping material helps to reduce diaphragm breakdown at high volume levels, thus extending the range of use of the woofer at high power. - Tweeter
The tweeter design sets new standards in terms of performance and low distortion, while providing a pleasant reproduction of music. The 1000 series tweeters use a 25 mm silk dome for a smooth and natural sound. In coaxial speakers, the tweeter diaphragm is smaller at 20 mm in diameter. The dome is extremely lightweight and much less susceptible to mechanical deformation. It provides a smooth, linear and very extended response. The high-quality neodymium magnet is optimized to provide better efficiency and linearity, which ensures optimal power control with greater bandwidth and efficiency. Thanks to various mounting options, installation is simple and hassle-free. In addition, the tweeter can be removed from the housing, further reducing its size for installation in the original positions in the car. Compared to the previous generation of the 1000 series, the tweeters include compact crossovers, which have replaced the relatively large classic frequency crossovers for treble and mid-bass. The crossover filter is designed to handle more power than the speakers, using high-quality components. This minimizes component saturation that could cause tweeter distortion, allowing the ESB 1000 Series system to reach its full potential.
