The philosophy of the 5000 (Cinquemila) project was to create a speaker system with extremely high dynamic response for the purpose of high-quality sound reproduction with a more realistic presentation. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to ensure the lightness and speed of the mobile part of the speaker in its movements and their sudden changes. Especially at high power when connected to an amplifier. That is why exclusive materials were used in the Cinquemila series, which will allow the high demands of the ESB engineer for top sound quality. It is worth mentioning the very stiff and light composite membrane reinforced with carbon fibers, which was used in the tweeters, mid-bass and in the three-way system and the center speakers. The ABS speaker basket was also reinforced with carbon and for its production noble metal parts machined on a CNC machine were used. Great attention was also paid to ventilation and powerful magnets. The result is top-notch two-way and three-way systems, which will be hard to beat at this price. This set includes tweeters and mid-bass speakers without frequency crossovers; we recommend connecting them to an amplifier with a DSP processor.

At first glance, the beautiful composite mid-bass membrane, which is composed of short fibers bonded together by an organic polymer matrix, is striking. The advantages of PMC (Polymer matrix composite) include light weight, high rigidity and strength in the direction of their reinforcements. Nevertheless, the membrane has been reinforced with carbon fibers for extraordinary rigidity combined with very low weight. The eight-beam speaker basket, which is made of ABS plastic and carbon fibers were used for its further reinforcement, also looks no less luxurious. These materials allow for excellent anti-resonance properties and the unique frame design ensures high structural and torsional rigidity. The metal parts of the speakers are made of noble material and are machined on a CNC machine for maximum linearity of the magnetic flux and minimal magnetic losses. This significantly reduces distortion at high power levels. In addition, a ring of pure copper was inserted into the magnetic field to reduce harmonic distortion. Great attention has also been paid to the axial and radial ventilation of the moving coil to ensure high power handling, reduced distortion and increased durability. The stepped rear section allows for very long diaphragm travel. The 25 mm CCAW (Copper Clad Aluminium Wire) double-layer voice coil wound on an aluminium frame enables exceptional power handling and compression-free reproduction to handle the most demanding musical passages. Also impressive is the exclusive ESB design of the TSW (Twin Symmetrical Wave) rubber suspension, which ensures natural reproduction of low frequencies at both low and high volumes. Finally, the large Conex® spider allows for smooth and gentle operation at low excursions and gently holds the diaphragm at high excursions, thereby increasing the useful frequency range.

The tweeter and midrange speaker diaphragms, like those of the midrange and bass speakers, are made of PMC composite material, which is additionally reinforced with carbon fibers. This ensures excellent rigidity and at the same time a very low weight of the diaphragm. The tweeter uses a very large, ventilated neodymium magnet, which is optimized using computer simulations (FEA) to achieve higher efficiency and improved linearity along all deflections of the voice coil. The highest quality neodymium magnet reduces magnetic losses at elevated temperatures and concentrates more energy into a small space. The tweeter and midrange speaker basket also impresses with its beautiful design and, incidentally, its high weight. This is due to the use of noble metal materials, which are manufactured using a CNC process. Great attention was paid to the axial and radial ventilation of the moving coil to ensure high power handling, reduced distortion and increased service life. Axial vents reduce air compression at the rear of the diaphragm, significantly reducing distortion and extending the response to lower frequencies. The 28 mm aluminum voice coil for the tweeter and 50 mm for the midrange allows for very high power for this type of component. Although the speaker basket excels in its anti-resonance properties, residual resonances are additionally suppressed by the dB Cloth® damping material under the dome, which extends the frequency response to the lower limits and reduces harmonic distortion. The 5000 series also features a unique UMA unit, which includes both the tweeter and midrange. This special and exclusive component driver is a concept that dates back to the 1970s and aims to concentrate the midrange and tweeters into a single virtual point. This minimizes phase delays and irregularities at the crossover point. The speaker consists of a 28mm tweeter and a 50mm midrange speaker with a different dust cover to have a midrange function (not a full-range) and not interfere with the tweeter frequencies.
